Danke Peter!

Sehr interessant. Kannte ich noch nicht. Die Planung damals war sicher unglaublich. Die Berichte von 1948 sind auch nicht schlecht.

"A few days later a tailor arrived at the quarters where the Czechoslovak Airmen were being detained. They were all measured up for civilian suits which they given a few days later. Shortly after a Senior US Officer advised them they were leaving now leaving the airbase. He had been ordered, by his superiors, to tell them that they must fly to Czechoslovakia.

Having said that, he then went on to say that he had followed the order that had been given to him by his Commanding Officer, and that he had ordered the airmen to fly back to Czechoslovakia. He then went on to tell them that their aircraft had been filled with fuel and once they had taken off it was their choice if they then flew East or West.

The eight Czechoslovak airmen boarded their aircraft, took-off and changed to a Westerly course and flew to England. They landed at RAF Manston on 18 May."
